Dear Silence,
When I'm with you, I feel comfort in the presence of death. There’s something reassuring about the silence. It’s like a warm bread you can pull apart in your hands. It’s in that moment that I feel truly alive. I accept that this moment is finite, yet it feels like the opposite. I feel conscious.
I misread you, Silence. And for that, I sincerely apologize.
I was right when I said you made the pain acceptable. Right when I said you make me feel like there’s nothing more for me in the world. You're no fearful adversary to be avoided, though. You’re beautiful.
In this moment, I accept the hell that is my life. Thanks to you, I've found peace in this moment.
But this is a mere moment. And I won't settle forever.
